This case study dives into the design process of Ilimikit, an e-learning app specifically developed for children in rural areas of Nigeria where internet access is limited. The project presented various challenges, including the lack of quality education resources, limited internet connectivity, diverse user needs, technological knowledge gaps, and the issue of children using tablets for non-educational purposes. As the lead designer, my role was to overcome these obstacles and create an app that catered to the unique requirements of the target audience, providing them with an engaging and accessible learning experience.
As a lead product designer on the Ilimikit project, I collaborated closely with the product manager and development team. The product manager provided valuable insights and assistance during user interviews, while I focused on translating those insights into meaningful design solutions. Together, we worked synergistically to ensure a cohesive and user-centered approach throughout the design and development process.
